The Haidian Kaiwen curriculum system adheres to the concept of “combining the best of both Chinese and Western culture” and develops a unique set of bilingual integrated curriculum system with the characteristics of Haidian Kaiwen by fully implementing the national curriculum at the stage of compulsory education, following the national curriculum standards and teaching materials, and at the same time, drawing on the advanced curriculum concepts of foreign countries. In the high school stage, we adopt a dual-pathway curriculum system from the UK and the US, offering AP, IGCSE, and A-Level courses.
The curriculum at the primary school level at HDKWA is a bilingual system that combines the East and the West concerning the nine-year compulsory education curriculum and the U.S. Common Core State Standards. The primary school curriculum and teaching activities are structured around interest development, knowledge and skill acquisition, mindset guidance, and practice of extension activities.
The Middle School (grades 6-8) combines the new Chinese compulsory education curriculum and Common Core State Standards. The school implements a credit system in High School, and students can flexibly choose the courses they are interested in to continue their studies after completing the procedures of basic subjects.
HDKWA offers 173 after-school activities for grades K-12, covering STEAM, financial literacy, traditional culture, design, sports, cultural thinking, dance, academics, speech and debate, art, puzzles, music, language, and general academics, and more. The program allows students to learn and develop their potential beyond the classroom.
The college counseling department provides one-on-one service as a functional department of the school. It assists students in course selection, standardized test planning, future central determination, university selections, and background improvement through the school year.
