
Primary School Curriculum:
The curriculum at the primary school level at HDKWA is a bilingual system that combines the East and the West concerning the nine-year compulsory education curriculum and the U.S. Common Core State Standards. The primary school curriculum and teaching activities are structured around interest development, knowledge and skill acquisition, mindset guidance, and practice of extension activities. Teachers of each subject use a standard lesson planning format to know the pace and focus of each subject, with more excellent crossover and echoing of topics to help students build broad knowledge connections. Classes are grouped, tiered, and individualized to improve each student’s academic performance. Students are encouraged to participate in hands-on activities to enhance their independent thinking and collaborative innovation.
Evaluation system:
The school uses a process evaluation system, using the PowerSchool system to record students’ classroom grades and daily school performance, providing a comprehensive, scientific, and dynamic assessment of students. Parents can log in real-time to learn about their children . Dora and MAP exams are administered every semester to assess students’ English language skills and science and math proficiency.
Course Concept: Improve students' language application skills, comprehension ability, critical thinking, reading and writing skills and expression ability through daily classroom interaction and various activities to build a solid foundation for students’ understanding of Chinese literature arts. Curriculum setting: Small-class and hierarchical teaching. Grade 1 to Grade 4 adopts the "Pull-Out" model to provide targeted guidance for students with lower English proficiency or whose English has exceeded the level of their peers. There are no more than 3-5 students in each class. Grade 5 adopts the Mixed Class teaching mode to help students smoothly get into Middle School, with 10-20 students per class; combined with ELA textbooks, mainly focusing on English application and English academic level. The four compulsory courses include three regular physical education classes and one special physical education class. Course concept: Children’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a systematic social-emotional learning course proposed by the American CASEL organization that combines positive discipline theory, Adler psychology, developmental psychology, and child pedagogy. Through the study of the system, children learn to respect and understand, establish a sense of value and belonging, and cultivate children's interpersonal communication, teamwork ability and awareness of rules. Curriculum: The SEL curriculum advocates positive discipline and stimulates children's internal motivation for learning by cultivating children's five core abilities: self-awareness, self-management, interpersonal communication, social cognition, and responsible decision-making.

Course concept: In line with the principles of full-field, interdisciplinary, interest guidance, and professional training, HDKWA also offers more than 50 ASA courses in addition to core curriculum teaching, trying to achieve riched curriculum content and flexible teaching methods. ASA courses focus on continuity and advancement in the design and arrangement. We hope that students can complete the primary or intermediate learning goals through 1-2 academic years.
Curriculum: In the 2022-2023 school year, the school offers more than 140 courses including science, literature, art, sports, and other fields, such as science, nature, gardening, Chinese learning, Go, Lego, African drums, fencing, golf, martial arts, etc. The learning cycle is based on the academic year, and students choose courses at the beginning of the semester.
