Beijing Haidian Kaiwen Academy Officially Receives WASC Six-year-term Accreditation

In February 2025, Beijing Haidian Kaiwen Academy (HDKWA) was officially granted accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC). This accreditation is valid until June 2031, representing the longest possible term of six years.

 

ACS WASC is one of the six regional accrediting associations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. ACS WASC extends its service to public and private schools, colleges, and universities, and is also responsible for accrediting international schools in the Asia-Pacific region. Established in 1962 as a non-profit and non-governmental organization, ACS WASC has become one of the most widely recognized accrediting bodies globally.

Renowned for its rigor in the accrediting process, ACS WASC holds a high reputation in the educational sectors of the United States and worldwide. Obtaining WASC accreditation is a multi-year process that requires schools to undergo a series of stringent evaluations and reviews to ensure their educational quality truly meets international standards. Furthermore, WASC accreditation is granted for a limited term, and accredited schools must continuously maintain and improve their standards to qualify for renewal.

 

Over the past several years in the accreditation process, HDKWA has consistently made improvements and advancements aligned with WASC’s standards and requirements, and has continuously refined the curriculum system, teaching and assessment methods, and student support systems to align with international benchmarks. In November 2024, an ACS WASC accrediting review team conducted an on-site visit to HDKWA and highly commended the school’s performance across all areas. In February 2025, HDKWA received six-year-term accreditation from ACS WASC.

This accreditation not only affirms HDKWA’s educational philosophy and practices but also recognizes the school’s commitment to continuous self-improvement and pursuit of excellence. At the same time, it represents a responsibility. HDKWA remains dedicated to cultivating “responsible and accountable individuals with sound mental health, who are capable of experiencing and creating joy while solving problems,” striving to contribute to the development of education.

 

Since the establishment in 2016, HDKWA has already received accreditation from Cognia, the College Board’s AP course authorization and AP Capstone Diploma™ program certification, as well as certifications from Cambridge Assessment International Examinations(CAIE) and Pearson Edexcel. Additionally, HDKWA is an authorized test center for both the ACT and A-Level examinations. Achieving ACS WASC accreditation will further enhance HDKWA’s international recognition and provide access to more high-quality resources in global education.

 

Receiving ACS WASC accreditation does not signify an end but marks a new beginning.

 

Over the past nine years, HDKWA has focused intently on education and achieved remarkable outcomes. Graduates have been accepted by prestigious universities worldwide, including Duke University, the University of Oxford, and the University of Cambridge, and continue to explore in various academic fields.
