Between April 27 and May 12, 2019, the 2019 MLB Junior Play Ball Teenage Baseball Contest was held in Beijing. The U8 Baseball Team of Haidian Kaiwen Academy broke into the top four as the first place in the group stage. The team defeated its strong rival in the semi-final and won the silver medal at last.

660 athletes of 44 teams took part in the contest from schools in Beijing. The teams were classified into four groups, including U6, U8, U10 and U12. The U8 group was comprised of 12 teams and contests of this group took three days. The preliminary was round robin and the quarter-final was knockout.

Of its four matches during the contest, the U8 Baseball Team of Haidian Kaiwen Academy won the first three, making into the top four and becoming the finalist. The second place of the contest has been the best result ever for the U8 Baseball Team of the Academy since its inception.

The U8 Baseball Team of Haidian Kaiwen Academy was established in September 2018. Its extraordinary achievements are fruits of the students’ arduous efforts and coaches’ professional and systematic guidance. As a MLB partner, Haidian Kaiwen Academy boasts rich resources of international education. Its training on baseball skills follows the system of Major League Baseball (MLB). The indoor batting cages and outdoor baseball field were designed and constructed by MLB, providing professional places for the team to practice. No matter what the weather is, the players never stop practicing.

The baseball team has top-class facilities and was under systematic and professional training. The coaches lay emphasis on teaching through lively activities, integrating baseball skills with games in an ingenious manner, which arouses students’ interest in baseball. Thus, they fall in love with the sport and develop a habit of participating in trainings proactively, making the sessions increasingly effective.

Physical exercise promotes the education on students’ personality. The baseball trainings and matches not only improve their physical health but also strengthen their confidence, willpower and teamwork spirit. It is the best way to implement personality education. During the matches, those kids are no longer afraid of wind and rain. When faced with difficulties, they make timely adjustments and cheer themselves up. Their performance displays characters of the school team of Haidian Kaiwen Academy, adding a stroke of thick and heavy colors in their life experiences.
