The end is the beginning; the Dragon Boat Festival is the fifth day of May in the lunar calendar, also called summer day, and double five day, the day the summer begins and the number repeats.
On June 15, 2018, the middle school students of Kaiwen Academy held the “Kaiwen · Dragon Boat Festival” event under the organization of the Chinese teachers.
In Kaiwen, the Dragon Boat Festival is not merely a story of Qu Yuan’s jumping into the Miluo River thousands of years ago published on the book, nor the dragon boat races in green waves on the screen, nor the lingering aftertaste of Zongzi.
In Kaiwen, the Dragon Boat Festival is the confidence of the students who walk slowly in Han clothing, the calmness of the teachers who are dancing, the smile of the parents, the parent’s eyes of encouragement and the patience as wrapping Zongzi and embroidering purse together with the students.
Without sparkling lights and gorgeous stage, the laughter of the big Kaiwen family and the flavor of Zongzi formed a warm and peaceful Dragon Boat Festival picture.
With respect for traditional culture, the students learned a lot from the activity, understood and carried forward the millennial Chinese culture. It is one of the innovative forms of language teaching in Kaiwen Academy, and also an effective practice method for multi-disciplinary interaction and home-school interaction.
Watching performances, wrapping Zongzi, embroidering purses, everyone was immersed in the fantastic festival atmosphere, full of happiness and harmony.
The students retold the loyalty story of great men of history with short drama.
