Chinese classics represent the quintessence of Chinese traditional culture. They are the invaluable historic legacy left by our ancestors over the past thousands of years. As an international school combining the Western and Chinese cultures, Kaiwen Academy has been dedicated to fostering international talents deeply rooted in Chinese culture. The school has been attaching great importance to creating a learning environment for Chinese classics and helping students better understand Chinese classic teaching principles and ideas.

In Chinese classes, we advocate and innovate on Chinese classics education with rich contents and diversified forms. We launched a series of events of learning Chinese classics with the purpose of cultivating students’ cultural profundity, and enabling students to carry on Chinese classics and acquire knowledge on traditional culture.

Recently, students of the primary education department of the Haidian Kaiwen Academy once again welcomed the Fun Chinese Day, a mid-term fun test event combining knowledge with fun games. Children immersed themselves in the event like playing games. There was no test paper, but only games. It was really fun.

At the event, students lined up to take part in various games, each of which examines students’ basic knowledge on Chinese and understanding of Chinese classics from different perspectives. They turned into poet reciters, who calmly showcased what they had learned and all passed the tests easily.

When the clearance certificate was fully stamped, students could exchange it for a championship emblem. With efforts step by step, students of the Kaiwen Academy are making steady progress on the recitals of Chinese classics.

Before the event, Chinese teaching faculty in Haidian Kaiwen Academy held an extensive discussion about how to make the event fun. The teachers said Chinese is of great profundity and essential to the lifelong growth of students, especially those from international schools who will compete in the international community, as better understanding of Chinese will help them promote the outstanding Chinese culture.

It is of great significance to maintaining students' interests in the Chinese subject. Therefore, Haidian Kaiwen Academy has been launching various activities to expose them to the subject so that they develop love for it and enjoy learning Chinese. Every spring, student read, recite and write poems in the beautiful school. They indulge themselves in the vast world of literature to relate to the patriotic scholars and enhance their affection for their motherland.
