Kaiwen Academy Summer

Students who will be starting grades 6, 7, & 8 at the Haidian campus of Kaiwen Academy get to do some reading and writing activities over the summer vacation!

You have each been given a BINGO card.  You can choose which 5 boxes of activities to do.  You can choose 5 in a row across or down (no diagonal).  On the back of this paper is a list of books for your new grade level.  You can use any or all of these books to complete the activities in the boxes.

In the second week of the new school year, you will do a short presentation to the class about your summer reading adventure.  This should be a 3 to 4 minute presentation. Get your family and friends to help – have FUN doing this!

• You can do a PPT, make a video, or create a poster

• You must include a photo or video of you doing each of the five activities! 

• You also need to tell the other students in the class about the books that you read.

You will receive one of your first grades of the year for this assignment – begin STRONG!

Explanations of some of the activities in the boxes:

“Play School” – Find someone to be your ‘student’ and you be the ‘teacher.’ Teach them about the book you’re reading.

“Read-a-Thon” – Set a goal for a number of pages to read in 3 hours.  Time yourself and see how you do.

“Write an ad in the newspaper for a product” – Create an original advertisement that would sell a product in the newspaper.  You can do this on a PPT slide or on paper.
